You’ll see this written very clearly on Silver Jublee Gate, while entering into the great university. I read it the day first when I entered into it. Later I forgot, but on recalling memories hard and asking people I rememorized the famous verse of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Having been established in early 1950’s Karachi University is the fourth oldest university of Pakistan. It’s spread over about 1700 acres of areas with 55 operational faculties at the moment. So, think about the number of days, if you want to explore the whole of it, I couldn’t explore the whole even being there for four years. The university, though being one of the oldest universities, is still maintaining a standard in higher education and has produced public figures like Hussain Haqqani, Parveen Shakir, Jamil Jalibi, Ansar Burney, Scholars like Dr Israr Ahmed, Maulana Taqi Usmani, and scientists like Dr. Qadeer, Dr. Att ur Rehman and a lot more. Blogging about the university is just to recognize the contribution of University in making of better Pakistan. Though, all the areas of university have their own uniqueness, but some that I like more are here: Department of Economics: Yes, being my department!
Dr. Muhammad Hussain Library: One of the biggest libraries in Pakistan. The library houses 350,000 volumes dating back to the 1600s, and it became the depository of the personal book collection of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
IBA Karachi University Campus: The oldest business school in the world outside of North America, and is considered one of the premier business schools in Pakistan
And yes, “Cafe Jamia” near Department of Public Administration and Computer Science. |
